The Beginnings_________________
his journal entry will be updated through out our wedding journey! Older entries are at the bottom of this post. I'm so very excited to be sharing my wedding plans with you! At first I was considering buying a wedding dress from a store in downtown LA…and then I came to my senses. Like "WTF am I thinking?? I make fantasy dresses for other people for a living! Why would I buy a generic gown?" I guess seeing too many wedding Pintrest boards brainwashed me into thinking I wanted what everyone else pinned.

Any-who I snapped out of my pintresthaze and started designing my own dream wedding gown and from it all the details have been taking shape. Like with most projects it all starts with with a inspiration piece. Mine is a lace. A lace that I've been admiring for a few years now from a shop in the fabric district that is renowned for it's high end /designer fabrics.

Inspiration by Firefly-Path

Buying from this store is well… taxing in many ways. Not only are their fabrics very expensive but the owner (a rotund chest-hair baring Armenian) profusely hits on any attractive woman who comes into his store. While explaining that I was buying fabrics for my WEDDING GOWN I had to keep reminding him that I don't think my fiancé would approve of us going on a date and NO my sister is already married.

We are just getting started please keep checking for updates! We are getting hitched on Dec 22, 2014. So soon!!!

I‘m a married woman whaaa whaaaattt!!
Jack Conway and I are back from our honeymoon! It’s been a whirlwind these past few months in preparation for the wedding then immediately flying to Japan for our Honeymoon. I could not have wished for anything better. It’s been so much fun prepping with my mom for the ceremony and reception. Thank you Emily Tolbert of Two be Wed for making sure everything ran smoothly. At first Mary Lynn Elam and I thought we did not need a wedding planner since our wedding was so small but there are so many details that we overlooked where your expertise was mandatory. You rock! Prae Photography Thank you for capturing our wedding!! I can’t wait to see more photos!

Milynn Sedai Thank you for being a magical pony Maid of Honor and putting together the bachelorette trampoline party and making sure I look magical on my wedding day. Let’s be unicorns together forever

Thank you Alexandra Prigge and Jes Reaves for bringing my wedding dress to life and giving our little cap his shield!

We had an amazing time in Tokyo!!! We would not have been able to experience the fun things we did without your donations to our Honeyfund The airline lost our luggage so we were only operating on basic essentials we had in our carry-on luggage. Anytime we had to pay for something we both were like “Honeyfuuunnnd!!!” To the generous people who donated:

My Bridal Gown by Firefly-Path

When designing my wedding gown I knew right away that I didn’t want a traditional all white dress and something faerie-like with a formal feel. I wanted to wear something that had a mermaid silhouette with sweetheart neckline. I have big hips and wanted a dress that accentuated them. The dress is made with a soft pink dupioni silk with an overlay of beaded french lace. The pearl, crystal, and 3D lace embellishes the neckline and seam below my knees where the skirt flairs out. I wanted the skirt to look as though white flowers where growing along the knee line with, petals falling and cascading down from the seam. I made a lace harness that gives decoration to my décolletage. My husband loved my dress! I’m so thankful to Alex for working so hard to make
my sketch come to life. I now understand why the folklore exists “every stitch sewn is a tear shed”. It’s to help the bride not worry about making her dress because there are so many other things to stress about during a wedding.

I wanted to share some of the progress photos of my gown being made but did not want to spoil the surprise until after the wedding.Hand by Firefly-Path
We cut up the lace and Alex hand-sewed each petal and lace bit to the tulle.

I love my veil! It’s store bought but I felt the scalloped edges and beaded flowers matched the theme of my gown so nicely!

I know it's not crafty but I had to share a photo of my wedding nails! They look like I ran my fingers through a Unicorn's mane! I got them done at Pampered Hands on Melrose.

Our ring bearer and one of our flower girls are bother & sister. When Elliot found out that his big sister was going to be a fairy flower girl for our wedding he said "I want to be Captain America or a ninja!". Jack and I though OMG! A little Cap ring bearer would be the most adorable thing ever! Jack is a big Captain America fan too. So Jack ordered a Captain America shirt and mask he can wear with his little suit. I though it would be adorable to make a pillow shield in place of the usual ring bearer pillow. Jes Reaves is a plush master! She patterned and created the pillow equipped with straps so he can actually wear it as a shield!

Doing some wedding crafting with my mom today! We are going to give these alter pillars a little woodland magic~ We added a touch of silver to the pillars and glued moss to look as though it grew in the crevasses. The white pillars were too stark white and distracted from the ferns.

My two fairy flower girl dresses are finished! They are very similar in design with a few variations in their color and accessories. I made the wings with with with organza, fantasy film and resin <3 I can't wait to dress them up!!

Fairy Flowergirls by Firefly-Path

My little flower girl dresses! I designed the skirts to look like petals. I lining each petal with horsehair braid and a balloon hem to give each petal shape. They are both made from the same ombré pink/fuchsia silk but we flipped the colors to add a little variety. The neckline and belt detail have the same 3D lace.

These next few weeks we are sewing & crafting for my wedding! I've been debating whether to not to make my own wedding dress. There's a folklore saying that a bride should never make her own gown because "every stitch sewn is a tear shed"… now usually I'm not the superstitious type, but because sewing is a huge part of my career I felt the need to abide. Sooo to get around this dilemma my amazing team of seamstress will we sewing my design! I'll be posting more on my wedding gown later We are currently making flower fairy dresses for my two flower girls! They will be very similar in design with a few variations in their color and accessories. This is the first one we created - We used pale pink ombre silk for the petals of the skirt. The top has a gathered layer of off-white tulle with 3D lace embellishing the shoulders and belt.

Shoot Cosplay Fairies On the Sony Backlot

Journal Entry: Wed Aug 10, 2011, 8:00 PM

At the Sony Backlot event next Saturday we will be shooting fairies with Sony cameras.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Everyone who comes to the event will have the opportunity to use your own Sony camera or one of our loaners to photograph and/or video three lovely young ladies in elaborate Faery costumes.  Shooting fairies on a major studio backlot isn't something you get to do everyday.

The event costs $100 or is free if you purchased your Sony camera at Samy's within the last 6 months.  If you have bought or are interested in buying a Sony Alpha HDSLR, NEX or video camera like the VG10, this is a great way to get your feet wet for shooting video.  Just send your name, email address, phone number and mailing address and we will comp you into this event for free.

The costumes are made by  JoEllen at FireflyPath.  Photos by Indigo Verse and Kyle Johnson.

Comic-con Depression

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 20, 2011, 6:32 PM
Well.. It seems I've been left behind. I feel like the only kid who is not going on the school field trip to the Zoo. The Zoo of Comic-Con that is. Everyone and their dog will be tweeting, face booking and vloging about the event this weekend. So what will I do with myself during the time everyone else is away you ask? I plan to drink a copious amount of wine and sew my bitterness into a emo dress. I'm challenging myself to make a ball gown by the time Comic-con is done on the 24th. That gives me four days to finish it. Misery loves company so I'll be blogging my every step. All of those who are not going to comic con are welcome to commiserate with me! ... So where to start? I have some fabrics and notions that are all black and red "vampiric...the lamented emo" if you will. Next I will sketch out some designs and post them. DARKNESS!!!!

Follow me on twitter and Face Book for more up-to-date progress

UPDATE! 7/20/11 - 6:30pm
Ok so here is my Emo Vampire design

UPDATE! 7/20/11 - 7:11 PM

Ok.  So these are the patterns I plan on basing it off of. Ill be doing a  lot of alterations on both but the corset of McCall's 3538 will work  well and the skirt of McCalls 4028 will be perfect!

UPDATE! 7/21/11 -
Playing around with some drapping.

Using the "A" style top of McCall's 3538 pattern I'm adding three inches to the bottom. I'll be flatlining it with interfacing.

Pretty much done with the corset. I just need to sew in the eyelets to lace up the back tomorrow. More updates tomorrow! Now back to my wine ~

UPDATE! 7/22/11 -

Cutting out the skirt using McCalls pattern 4028. As you can see I'm adding a train. I've always though dress trains add glamor.

Adding a ruffle to the front panel of the skirt as well

Making a choker using a old beaded choker as a base. I'm going to see if it is a better fir for the gown

I like it so far but it needs more. Perhaps a sash or belt?

UPDATE! 7/23/11 -

Ok so here is my new design. The last was boring. I'm going to add a bolero with a high collar, and bustle :)

UPDATE! 7/24/11 -
Drafting the pattern for the Bolero

UPDATE! 8/1/11 -
